More tips and examples!

From Catherine Cronin, who said:
"Over the past two years I’ve had the opportunity to prepare and deliver four different Pecha Kucha presentations. Each time is a unique learning experience! This past year I did something I’d considered for quite a while: I assigned Pecha Kucha presentations to my students. In terms of presentation quality and the skills students developed, this was a great success. In this post I’ll share a few tips about Pecha Kucha presentations, some resources which my students and I found helpful, and a few examples of PK presentations."

Your favorite Pecha Kucha presentation?

Have you found a presentation that you really like? Share here, in the comments!
One of mine is still Dan Pink's PK on

Finding images (with help from Felix Jung)

It doesn't hurt to start and draw inspiration from Google image search. This is where your mad search string skills will come into play.
If the presentation is going to be made available to a broad audience, securing permission from the original image owner, if the image does not have a creative commons license, is important.
Remember the golden rule!
For alternate resources, the following list comes from Felix Jung's guide
(
http://avoision.com/pechakucha):
Flickr: You can perform an “advanced” search on Flickr and specify only images that have a Creative Commons license (image attribution is often one of the requirements).
Image*After: A large, free collection of photos. Images can be downloaded and used for both personal and commercial purposes.
Stockvault: A photo sharing site with images from designers, photographers and students. Commercial use is NOT allowed, but personal use or internal presentations is acceptable.
morgueFile: The site name refers to old files/notes kept by criminal investigators and newspaper reporters, for use as quick references. High-res images are available for personal and commercial use, so long as the image is altered in some way.
Pow!: A large collection/list of stock photography resources.
iStockphoto: Royalty-free images, available for purchase based on a “credit” system. Great quality, but you need to pay for the images (worth it though).
Gimmestock: High quality images for $1 each.

About Pecha Kucha

Some info about the history of PK, the format, and some "training bites" and examples.

Shameless me

My very first public P-K talk was given at the WCET annual conference in San Diego (La Jolla, actually) in 2010. Among a number of other excellent presentations.

Mine starts at about 12:30.

My friend Myk Garn did a great one too:

And they asked me to write a blog post for the 2011 conference.

(Myk and I did a tag team P-K that was a hoot. So far unable to locate a video)
